The Fairfax County 4-H Fair and Frying Pan Park Farm Show is for visitors of all ages. The tradition of the Fairfax County 4-H Fair began in 1948 and has continued to offer a multitude of 4-H exhibits, two days of horse shows, livestock and rabbit judging, dog and pet shows, food, kiddie rides, free entertainment, old-fashioned games, goat milking, a pie-eating contest, demonstrations, 4-H Fashion Show, crafters, and much, much more. Visitors who have their Fair Passport stamped at each specified location will receive a prize from the 4-H Association's Information Booth This year our special features will include a tractor pull, Search and Rescue dog demonstrations, storytelling, and more! Please come and celebrate our 60th Anniversary!!!
 
Please note, however, that rides are only available for children ages 5 and up in order to abide by Virginia Cooperative Extension/Virginia Tech insurance policies. No exceptions will be made.
 
Fairgoers will also enjoy the fantastic Frying Pan Park Farm Show and Fairfax County Park Authority's 1920's-era Kidwell Farm. Activities include hayrides, cow milking, blacksmith and farrier demos, animal washing and grooming, sheep shearing, and lots more!
 
Fair and Farm Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, August 4 and 5, 2007.
 
Admission and parking are free. Donations to support the 4-H Fair and canned goods for the Food for Others Food Bank will be most appreciated.
 
The fairgrounds are located at Frying Pan Park. The park can be reached by taking Beltway Exit 49 (Rt. 66 West) to Rt. 50 west exit. Follow Rt. 50 west to right on Fairfax County Parkway until it meets West Ox Road. Turn left on West Ox Road and follow it to the park entrance on the right.
 
Food and non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased from commercial vendors on the fairgrounds or may be brought in by visitors. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
 
Stationery exhibits must be entered between 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 3, at the Fair. Open classes for youth who are not 4-H members, or have not been enrolled in 4-H for 60 days prior to the fair, are available in all departments except Dog Show, Livestock, Rabbit & Cavy, and Horse. Open classes for Fairfax County adults are in the Floriculture, Vegetable, and Open Category for Adults (Department T). Rules for exhibitors are in the 4-H Fair Catalog, available without charge from the 4-H Office and some Fairfax County Public libraries. The catalog will also be available at the Fair.
